- Step 1: Build a Killer Model Agency Website
- Step 2: Use Booking & Talent Management Tools to Improve Efficiency
- Step 3: Boost Online Visibility with SEO
- Step 4: Leverage Social Media to Cross-Promote Your Brand
- Step 5: Polish It Off with Email Marketing
As a modelling agency owner, building a solid online presence is crucial for attracting clients and world-class talent. And your online presence is often the first impression potential clients and models have of your agency. So here's how to make that first impression count.
Step 1: Build a Killer Model Agency Website
Your website is the cornerstone of your online presence. Do it right, and it'll help you build brand awareness, bring client leads and get more bookings.
Here are some best practices for building a modelling agency website that turns visitors into clients:
1) Pick a clean, attractive model agency website template
Choose a visually appealing design with elements that match your brand image (fonts, logo, colours). Your website branding should be consistent with your other online channels. Ensure the website layout is clear and easy to navigate.
Some of our favourite modelling agency websites include:

2) Showcase your talent efficiently to encourage more bookings
Have snazzy, crisp profiles for your talent. Use high-quality images for their portfolio and polaroids. Read our portfolio curation guide if you need some pointers.
Make sure their profiles on your website include all necessary information: their bio, model category (New Face, Development, Mainboard), pronouns, measurements, links to their socials, location, and past work.
The idea is to avoid back-and-forth communication between agency bookers and clients. Help them save time by giving them the essentials on your website. If clients need to frequently bounce between your IG and your website to learn more about a model or your services, you're making it harder for them to decide if they should book with you.
If you have a large talent pool (over 50 models), your website should have search features to allow clients to spot the models they need quickly. Add filters like location, eye colour and complexion, gender and model category.
Advanced search abilities on your website will speed up the booking process and result in more jobs for your models and less back-and-forth communication to find a model that fits a client's brief.

3) Display client testimonials and your best collabs
Highlight notable collaborations and impressive testimonials on your homepage. They give valuable evidence to new visitors, inviting them to trust your agency's reliability and credibility.
For example, Anti Agency has a "News" page on their website, featuring their latest collaborations. They invite users to scroll through projects, giving substantial proof of their reliability and reputation. When clicking an image, they give more information about the project and link to featured models, helping boost their models' visibility.
4) Create comprehensive FAQs
Offer transparent information about the booking process on your website. By anticipating and addressing common questions, you can eliminate the need for potential clients to send additional emails for clarification. Instead, streamline their experience by ensuring all necessary details are readily available and easily accessible online.
5) Include links to your other online channels
Improve visibility by cross-linking to your socials. Include links to your website and socials in your email signature and website footer.

Step 2: Use Booking and Talent Management Tools to Improve Efficiency
Use booking and talent management tools to save time and money. They're designed to streamline modelling agency operations and improve efficiency, helping you focus on what matters the most: growing your business.
With booking tools, you can manage your bookings, confirmations and cancellations, all from one platform.
Talent management tools can help you track your models' bookings, payments and contracts efficiently. This, in turn, allows you to focus on growing your agency online to get more clients rather than spending time on tedious admin tasks.

Step 3: Boost Online Visibility with SEO
Did you know that "SEO drives 1,000%+ more traffic than organic social media"?(BrightEdge)
Search engine optimisation (SEO) is a synonym for online visibility. It's about optimising your website to rank higher in search engine results. The higher your website ranks on Google and the more keywords it targets, the greater the organic traffic you'll get. Increased traffic often translates into more bookings from clients and more applications from models.
It's a rookie mistake to save SEO for last. Start early (as soon as you build your website), and you'll see a positive return on investment, allowing you to quickly outperform your competitors.
To optimise your website for SEO, you can start with the following:
1) Find keywords related to your modelling agency.
To find the best keywords, think about:
- Your niche: what services do you offer, to which clients do you cater, and do your models have a specific style?
- Your competitors: what are they doing right? What can you do better?
- Your mission: what's unique about you? What are your values? Who's your target audience?
Each area is a keyword opportunity. For example, if you primarily have models with tattoos, some of your target keywords could be "model with tattoos", "alternative model", "alternative model UK", "queer model with tattoos", etc. You can use free and paid SEO tools like Ubersuggest, Semrush, Ahref and Moz to do keyword research.
Once you have a preliminary list of keywords, include relevant keywords in your website pages' content, headlines and image alt tags.
2) Optimise your website landing pages for SEO, starting with your homepage.
According to Rock Content, "First-page results attract 95% of search traffic." So to improve the visibility of your modelling agency, the first step is to ensure that your website appears at the top of search engine results when people search for your agency name.
Try it out: type your modelling agency name into the Google search bar. Where does it show? Top, middle or bottom of search results? If it doesn't appear at all, you've got work to do.
The second step is to target keywords that are non-branded (not including your agency name) that potential clients may be searching. Such keywords may be "alternative model agency UK" or "mature male model agency."
Identify the keywords that best match your agency's services and include them in relevant places across your website, starting with your homepage. This will help attract potential clients who are searching for agencies that provide the services you offer.
Tips for getting your homepage to rank first on search results
Use a descriptive title tag and meta description that includes your agency name, location and services. They should give a quick snapshot of what you do and what you offer.
💡 What's a meta description?
A meta description gives a brief summary of a webpage's content. It appears as a snippet of text in search engine results below the page title. It should provide a concise and compelling description for each page, enticing users to click the link and visit the website. It plays a crucial role in improving the visibility and click-through rate of a webpage in search engine results.
Let's take ZEBEDEE TALENT as an example.
Their homepage title is "Zebedee Talent | Disabled Models | Non Binary & Trans Models."
This title allows a potential visitor to quickly understand their services before even visiting their website. By including non-branded keywords like "non-binary models," "trans models," and "disabled models" on their homepage title, we can deduce that they're likely actively targeting these keywords across their website. This approach can help increase their visibility to potential clients searching for models with these specific attributes.
A further look into their website can reveal other keywords they're targeting, like "inclusive model agency" and "inclusive talent agency."
💡Notice that these are variations for the same keyword—ensure you include keyword variations in your website content to boost rankings and increase online visibility for your modelling agency.
Now let's look at their meta description. It states:
"We are the world's leading inclusive talent agency, changing the way disability, visible difference, and gender are represented in fashion and wider media."
This meta description clearly explains what they do, why they're different, and why you should trust them, enticing people to visit their website to learn more and discover their talent pool. It also contains one of their target keywords, "inclusive talent agency."
When targeting a keyword for a page, follow these SEO best practices:
- Include the target keyword in the page title (this should also be your heading 1)
- Include the target keyword in the alt text of images.
- Mention the keyword and its variations in at least one paragraph.
3) Ensure your website is mobile-friendly and optimised for fast page load speeds
Optimal performance will boost your website's search engine ranking. Avoid the common mistake of uploading images larger than 2MB, which can negatively impact SEO. Use compression tools like compressor.io to reduce image size without compromising quality.
SEO can seem scary at first, but once you get the hang of it, the results and its return on investment won't disappoint you. For a quick-start guide, read this excellent handbook by a leading SEO tool, Semrush.

Step 4: Leverage Social Media to cross-promote your brand
You know it already: Social Media is an excellent tool for building your online presence and attracting potential clients and models.
Choose the right social media platform for your agency—one where you can speak directly with your target audience. For example, if your modelling agency has mainly models for corporate companies in the medical sector, maybe Linkedin's a better fit than Instagram.
Most agencies will choose Instagram to promote their activity. It's a great tool to support your website and:
- showcase your models
- promote your best client collaborations
- attract world-class models
- bring visitors to your website
- build your reputation in the industry
Some agencies are also using Tik Tok to promote different kinds of content, share their distinct brand voice and engage their audience. Take a look at ZEBEDEE TALENT's Tik Tok account to get your creative juices flowing!
Social Media Best Practices for Modelling Agencies:
- Identify the right social media platforms for your agency based on your target audience.
- Use high-quality images and videos that showcase your models and services to create visually appealing content. Always credit images by tagging the brand and creative team.
- Post consistently and at optimal times to increase visibility and engagement.
- Use relevant hashtags to increase discoverability and reach a wider audience.
- Engage with your followers by responding to comments and messages promptly and authentically.
- Partner with other brands or influencers in your industry to increase your reach and credibility.
- Use social media analytics to track and measure your performance and adjust your strategy accordingly.
Types of Content to Share on Social Media for modelling agencies:
- Behind-the-scenes content of photoshoots, fashion shows, or events.
- Introduce your models and share their experiences and achievements.
- Have a monthly New Faces story feature to promote models that recently joined your agency.
- Share industry news, trends, or insights to position your agency as a thought leader.
- Client testimonials or success stories to build trust and credibility.
- Showcase your agency's culture and values to attract like-minded clients and models.
- Highlight your agency's social responsibility initiatives or charity work to show your agency's commitment to making a positive impact.
- Promote your agency's services, such as booking and talent management tools, to attract new clients and models.

Step 5: Polish it off with an efficient email marketing strategy
Since email is likely the primary communication between your modelling agency, clients, and models, it's important to have efficient email processes in place. This includes everything from responding to client inquiries to requesting payment for invoices.
Email marketing can also be a powerful tool to drive traffic to your website and social media profiles, ultimately boosting your online visibility. Here are some ideas to make the most of your email communications:
Create a monthly newsletter
To further engage your clients, you could share a monthly newsletter promoting your models' stories and achievements, introducing newer models, and offering expert industry advice.
And don't forget about your talent pool! Send them a friendly newsletter to celebrate their achievements and reinforce the community feel. You could also share tips to help them grow their modelling careers.
Newsletters can also help you attract client leads. Add a newsletter sign-up on your website to encourage visitors to stay in the loop, for example, by giving them exclusive access to top talent. Some subscribers might convert later on into some of your best clients.
Create automated email campaigns
Rather than doing the whole booking process manually, implement automated email campaigns to guide the user through an efficient booking journey. There are easy tools to automate transactional emails, like Flowdesk and Mailchimp.
On Contact, we do email marketing for you. We send emails to clients every two weeks showcasing New Faces and models from the agencies on Contact.
