Meet Revolt Models: The Agency Making Waves in The Modelling Industry
Introducing our partner model agency Revolt - an edgy, inclusive agency standing for diversity and creativity, and pushing boundaries to nurture new spaces for models.

Since we joined forces in 2020, Revolt and Contact have been carrying the same overarching desire for evolution within the modelling world, with a passion for showcasing striking faces and elevating talent and inclusion.
All measurements, shapes and sizes should be respected and celebrated; the satirical strain of the industry gaze must go. Out with the overplayed, outdated expectations of fashion weeks, and in with a new generation of talent who are reshaping the industry from the outside in.
While Revolt is known for its edgy, multi-talented faces, dripping with style, Contact, in turn, wants models to be seen as more than just 'faces', and for people in the industry to work with, rather than against each other.
So we met Revolt Models' founder, Sophia Maslin, to discuss the changes she wishes to manifest through Revolt in the industry. Her final words in this interview are filled with a resonance that's never seemed more valid - "everybody matters."

How did you set up Revolt Models - what were the goals you had in mind for an agency and when did you start it up?
Revolt Models was created to be a vehicle for change. We wanted to catalyse a revolution within the fashion industry that would empower all those that are not only different, but those that have creative talent and don’t just ‘look good’.
What's the main message you want to send with Revolt's casting choices and ethos?
That those in front of the camera should not just be ‘blank canvases’ anymore. We want brands and magazines to think differently and become more creative with their talent choices. Inclusion for all types of beauty is the way forward.
What led you to work in the modelling industry?
My sister and I had some experience within the industry, but not a huge amount. As a result, we were knowledgeable of the problems within, but were not so submerged that we could still have a completely fresh mindset on the industry and how we wanted to help change it. It shouldn’t just be about tall, skinny, mundane faces anymore. Castings shouldn’t be like cattle shows. The entire industry needed (and still needs) humanisation.

What do you think are some of the biggest challenges models face, and what do you think is changing for the better in the modelling industry?
I think the biggest challenge at the moment is Fashion Week. Fashion Week, whilst it is definitely becoming more inclusive, is very slow to reform and I think that’s due to the restrictions placed on height. The stigma installed on shorter men and women wearing the clothes needs to be dissolved and in turn, the catwalk should be a more open platform. Conversely, the world of e-commerce is changing rapidly, brands like ASOS are now super inclusive and their campaigns are always rich in diversity.
What inspires you most about running an agency like Revolt?
I think our biggest inspiration is just being a part of the change. We are living in such a fluid world at the moment: so many transitions are happening within society, the new generations are waking up the old and as such, indoctrination is becoming something of the past.

What do you look for in any new face, or talent that you want to sign to Revolt?
We look for individuality. All our models must be something more than just a model, we look for people, real people. We love people with creative talents and our models are everything from singers to stylists. We appreciate all forms of beauty and think that something like height, should not restrict you.

If you could give a message to all your models at Revolt, what would that message be?
We would just tell them (as we always have) to be unapologetically themselves. Embrace who they are, if a brand or client doesn’t end up wanting them, then who cares because someone else will! Even in an industry as notoriously harsh as this one, everyone matters.
